Does A Fire Extinguisher Expire?

Many popular fire extinguisher manufacturers say that their extinguishers should last anywhere between 5 to 10 years depending on the maintenance and care they have received throughout their lifetime.  Fire extinguishers will certainly not last a lifetime, and nor should they.
